Chiang Mai, Chiang You

The lively old city of Chiang Mai is nestled in the mountains of northern Thailand. It is a bustling city, complete with its own Tesco (Thai Walmart Supercenter), several major universities, a zoo, dozens of important Buddhist things, huge outdoor markets, Italian food restaurants and used book stores. The best part of Chiang Mai are the webs of alleyways that twist behind the major roads. They are called "sois", pronounced "soys". In the sois are all the fantastic little gems of the city, like tiny noodle shops and organic food stores. Our swanky apartment at Studio 99 is down one of these very sois.

We will be in the Chiang Mai province though mid-December. Kim is in class Monday to Friday, soaking up the subtleties and energetic nuances of Thai Massage at the Sunshine Massage School . In the coming weeks, once she has mastered the basics, she will approach Master Pischet Boonthumme, the famous Thai Massage master, and ask to be included in a few weeks of his famous classes.

Dan, on the other hand, is trying to make a living. Trying to put food on the table. He has constructed a makeshift office in the living room by wiring his fledgling computer to a borrowed screen. He is currently designing a logo, a keynote presentation, business cards and engaging in the usual ass kissing that makes up his normal daily routine. He is studying The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferris and learning to create a website that will generate enough money to keep the danberly travels going indefinitely (sorry Lindy!).

Kim is embracing her fear of motorbikes in preparation for our upcoming week-long cruise through the unspoiled countryside. We have plotted a route through some small towns and we will ultimately spend Thanksgiving in some hippie village in the middle of nowhere called Pai. Hopefully its pumpkin pie. Ha ha. But seriously. We will be needing some pie come November 22nd.

Come visit us. Yes, you. Come bother Dan as he tries to work like a serious bee. Come take Kim out to lunch. Come sleep on our couch. You're invited. We'll be here until December 17th. Then you'll have to come to Laos with us.

Love,
Dan&Kim

Happy Thanksgiving! We love looking at your site and we are so envious of you!!! The kids are all home for the holiday and Scott and his kids are here, so we are having a great time. We just spoke to your parents and it was so good to hear from them. Enjoy every minute of your time there and come home with memories to last a lifetime! All our love, Lisa, Terry, Brett, Zach and Kory

Back to civilization, I see. Glad to hear that you're working to extend your travels. I'm sure a little US dollar will go a long way. The apartment and the food (as always)look fantastic!

Thanks for the invitation. Ahh, SO relaxing & fun here in Danberly. I was waiting to view your latest vacation webisode w/ Sharri, it's become our way of vacationing together, staring @ the screen! But she should be ensconsed in the rainforest by now (left to Belize this a.m.) So here I am alone w/ a bowl of kaang daeng, wondering if I should get one of them rice cookers from Tezzies 'cause I burnt the rice. Good Luck w/ 4hr. wrk.wk. Love
